CWG Subsidised by the European Union

How the European Union’s Just Transition Fund is powering Clean Water Global’s innovation

At Clean Water Global (CWG), we’re proud to announce that our pilot project for treating paint rinse-water has received support from the Just Transition Fund (JTF) of the European Union—a major step forward in both circular economy and water stewardship.

Why the JTF matters

The JTF is part of the EU’s broader strategy for a fair transition to a climate-neutral economy. It supports regions and industries facing significant environmental, social and economic impacts as they shift away from high-emission activities.

For CWG, that means our ambition to turn paint rinse-water and pain residues, typically seen as waste, into clean water and circular resources is aligned perfectly with the goals of the JTF.

Paint rinse-water is often overlooked as an environmental source of contamination: from brushes, rollers and spray guns, dissolved binders, pigments, chemicals enter sewer or waste streams. The JTF-supported pilot highlights a dual benefit: reducing contaminants in water and recovering valuable material that would otherwise be lost or incinerated.

By converting what was previously a liability into an asset, CWG not only helps meet circular economy targets but also supports clearer compliance and cost savings for professional users.

This pilot phase is the groundwork for a scalable solution. While the JTF project’s focus is demonstration and validation in a real-life context, our long-term vision builds on this toward widespread deployment and full market readiness.

With the results of the pilot, we will refine our business model, optimize logistics, standardize the technology and seek to roll out at larger scale—further leveraging the benefits for industry and environment alike.

Funding from the European JTF is more than just a financial boost , it’s a strategic endorsement of CWG’s mission. We are part of the movement that turns industrial residues into resources, aligned with the EU’s vision of a sustainable, inclusive transition.

Together, we’re making cleaner water, smarter processes and circular materials part of the future.
